The Reading Band Score is your score for the Reading section of the IELTS exam. It measures how well you understand written English, locate information quickly, and interpret ideas accurately.
Your score is reported on the IELTS 0 to 9 band scale, including half bands such as 6.5 and 7.5.
What It Tests

That raw score is converted into a Band Score.
Example Conversion
- 23 correct answers ≈ Band 6.0
- 30 correct answers ≈ Band 7.0
- 35 correct answers ≈ Band 8.0
(Conversion may differ slightly between Academic and General Training.)

Many universities, visa programs, and employers require minimum Reading scores such as:
